@animalexchange1 oh my hamsters are Dwarfs n the Mom is letting stay the dad in the cage but i dont know what food should i give them? i mean i always give them the food that i buy at the pet store for hamster but is there anything else i can give them? something like fruit or vegies?? sometimes i give the mom Cherrios lol is it good?

@xXPaujessionXx A little bit of any of your food is fine and cherrios without sugar coating is good. You can handle the babies from the start. Wash your hands first, push mom out of the way so she won’t bite you and you can pick the babies up and look at them. Can you see the milk in their stomach?

Erm I My syrian hamster gave birth to 10 baby hamsters but in the end saddly none of them survive.I would like to know what is the cause of it dying i did not touch the baby or anything i just leave it alone and let its mum take care of it. pls i need an answer

hi, i have 2 syrian hamsters who had babies only 5 but only 2 survived:( but i have a question every time the dad wakes up the mom starts fighting with him and then he moves away and goes back to sleep should i put him another cage

when hamsters are born their mothers lick them all around so that they’d know their mother’s scent but once you touch them they will get used to your scent and when you put them back the mother will automatically eat them

@ambergreiz While some hamster mothers are nervous and may eat the babies, we routinely handle all our babies with no ill effects. The cage has to be cleaned and the babies are put into a clean cage with the mother right after they are born and at least twice a week after. Just use clean hands and talk gently to them as you move them

My hamster jumps off my hand wen i hold her any suggestions on how she can get use to me?? my other hamster (wich she sadly died) would let me hold her and stuff so dont think im a bad owner and she hates me

@elims4em It sounds like you have a nice new active hamster. Let her get used to your voice and hand and she should be fine. Till then, keep her down low or over her cage.
